Kate Scholes, Teacher at BHS, nominated Krissie Williams to be the Highlight in Education in part writing: She has been pushing for the addition of a black history course at BHS for several years now and was successful in getting it added this year. She has worked tirelessly over the summer and this fall putting together the curriculum for this critically important class. In addition, she is the founder and President of the Barnstable Ally Group which is a community organization (not specific to BPS but certainly overlaps in mission) to seeks to amplify the voices and support our BIPOC community members. In this capacity she has led workshops for the BHS staff in the fall and recently won an award from the Barnstable Human Rights Commission.
